Defending champions Manchester City drew 1-1 with Aston Villa away from home in the Premier League clash at dawn on Sunday (4). Nonetheless, Norwegian shot-stopper Enin Harlandt continued to show his goal-scoring talent, scoring his 10th goal in the 6th round of the Premier League, setting a new record for the earliest double-digit goal scoring in the history of the Premier League (6th round), and is now leading the list of top scorers, and is expected to vie for the Golden Boot award.
Harlandt, who scored three goals in two consecutive matches, was a little flat in the first half, with the hosts Villa more threatening on the counter-attack. However, City took the lead again in the 50th minute with a goal from Harlandt, who showed great leaping power to beat the keeper into the net from Keane Dibny's cross from the right. The Norwegian striker then had another shot parried away by the keeper, while Villa's only shot on goal in the 74th minute was a powerful shot from Liam Bennett, leaving the two sides to shake hands at 1-1.
Despite City winning the title last season, only three players reached double figures in goals, with top scorer Keane Dibny scoring just 15. Harlandt, on the other hand, has scored 10 goals in his first six games this season, breaking the record for the earliest double-figure scoring run in Premier League history and equalling the record set by Mike Quinney in November 1992, when he scored 10 goals in his first six league games following his move to the club.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said after the game: "We played well, but Villa scored on the first shot, the players are not subtle enough in the attacking end of the performance, which is the reason why we were not able to score a second goal." As for Harlandt, who said on social media that he would now switch to "UEFA mode", City will face Sevilla away in the early hours of Wednesday (7), and Harlandt scored 13 goals in the last round of UEFA matches.
