Liverpool (England)
Two of the players in the squad for this season's UEFA Europa League group stage, Nabil Kida and Alex Chamberlain, are out due to injuries. Coach Jürgen Klopp has revealed that although both players have not yet fully recovered from their injuries, transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano believes that their future contractual status is also uncertain.
Jurgen Klopp emphasized that Nabikida and Chamberlain will not be able to play in the upcoming UEFA group stage as they need to recuperate from muscle problems for a longer period of time. However, the two are expected to return to action after recovering from their injuries if the team manages to reach the knockout stage.
On the surface, injuries were the direct cause of the players' absence, but Romano further pointed out that contractual issues and the pending futures of both players also played a role. Nabikida is said to have considered leaving the club in the summer, although Klopp wants him to stay and sees him as an important rotation option in the squad. As for Chamberlain, although he's not a starter, his contract is up for the season and he's still recovering, so the likelihood of him staying doesn't look promising.
