Ligue 1 played host to a fierce showdown in the breaking morning sun on Sunday (14th). Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was in the ascendancy, thrashing Montpellier 5-2 at home, with Nima putting in a heroic performance, scoring twice to set a new PSG record of three goals in the first two matches of the opening season in the nearly 45-year history of the club.
Tonight, PSG star Kilian McBarbie returned to action with the MNM trio in the forward line, and the team had a 12-yard chance in the 22nd minute, but McBarbie took the penalty, only to have it turned away by Montpellier keeper Chonasian.
However, McBarbee was also instrumental in PSG's breakthrough goal, as his pinpoint cross from the right led to an own goal by Farnasha. Towards the end of the first half, PSG were awarded another 12-yard penalty, which Nima took.
Shortly after the changeover, Nima proved his hustle with a rare overhead header. Although Montpellier striker Kasri pulled a goal back, PSG's attack did not let up, with Kilian McBarbee and Lennardo Sintjes each scoring to make it 5-1. Montpellier scored another goal in stoppage time but it had no effect on the final result.
It's worth noting that PSG have won their last three official matches, including the French Champions League, scoring a total of 14 goals.
