In Wednesday's (10th) UEFA Europa League third round second leg match, Yanhofen hosted Monaco. The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg. Yanhofen's tactics in the UEFA Europa League tend to be conservative, with three of their last four UEFA Europa League matches failing to score more than two goals, while Monaco are also cautious on the road, pursuing a goal difference of no more than 2.5 goals. (Match kicks off at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday)
Yanhofen finished second in last season's Dutch league behind Ajax by just two points, and although they exited the UEFA Europa League in the last eight stage, they were fortunate enough to take home the Dutch Cup, not empty-handed. They recently beat Ajax 5-3 in the Dutch Premier League Cup, with midfielder Gustil in great form after joining from Feijano, scoring three goals in a row, and beating Amman 4-1 in their league opener.
The first round was scoreless.
In the domestic league, Yanhofen play a more open style, scoring as well as conceding goals, but when it comes to the UEFA Europa League, the strategy is different. Like last season's UEFA Europa League playoffs, they were able to draw 0-0 against a very strong attacking team in Benfica, and they have obviously adjusted their tactics.
