In the opening match of the EPL, Tottenham Hotspur met the challenge of Southampton at home. Despite conceding a goal in the first half of the match, Tottenham turned the situation around with a fluent offense, and eventually won 4-1, winning all three points, opening the new season and occupying the first place in the table. Tottenham Hotspur's victory looks easy, coach Dryland even said that winning the title is not empty talk!
Tottenham Hotspur will send a strong lineup to face the game, with Harry Carney, Son Heung-Min, and Galuszewski leading the attack, while Richard Litson is out due to suspension, and a few of the newest additions are on the bench for now, while Southampton will play a more conservative 532 formation, with Adam Iwastham and Erebor partnering up in the attack.
With just 12 minutes played, Southampton seized the opportunity to take the lead when Woteps grabbed a shot in the confusion and Spurs keeper Lloris could do nothing to put the Saints 1-0 up.
However, Spurs did not panic and quickly counterattacked. Reinschloss equalized the score to 1-1 in the 21st minute, followed by a header from Alejandro in the 31st minute to put Spurs back in front 2-1 at halftime.
After the break, Reinschloss broke through again at the start of the second half, but VAR ruled it offside and the goal was disallowed. But it showed Tottenham's attacking threat. In the 61st minute, Amazon sent a precise cross, Suresu scored an own goal, and in the 63rd minute, Guruschowski added another goal to extend Tottenham's lead 3-1 and finally seal the win.
