As the summer heats up, Manchester United veteran Paul Puba has suffered the misfortune of missing out on France's World Cup campaign with a knee injury that at one point could have kept him out of action for as long as four to five months. However, the latest revelations from the Italian media are like a hammer blow to the 29-year-old, who has chosen a conservative path - just five weeks of recuperation, and is expected to shine in the opening match of the World Cup on November 21st.

It is reported that Paul Puba faced two treatment options, one is conservative treatment, removal of part of the meniscus tear, the recuperation period is shorter; the second is a complete suture, more radical, but need a long recuperation of four to five months. In order to dream of the World Cup stage, he decisively chose the former.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paul Puba will undergo three weeks of recovery training after surgery, including swimming and fitness, before returning to the pitch for live drills. He is expected to make his comeback at the end of September at the earliest, and will have plenty of time to adjust his form and be fully prepared for the World Cup stage.
