Kasper Schmeichel, the goalkeeper who helped Leicester City create a "fairytale" miracle and win the English Premier League title in 2016, officially announced on Thursday (4) that he has joined Ligue 1 side Nice, marking the end of his 11-year career as a "fox". The 35-year-old Danish international, the son of Manchester United legend Schmeichel, has signed a three-year contract to join Ligue 1, which may be the last stop of his soccer career.

An official statement from Lee St City said, "After 11 years with the club, Kasper Schmeichel has chosen to join Nice, ending his magical journey with Lee St City." Kasper Schmeichel started from Manchester City's youth team, then played for Nottingham Forest, Reading and other teams, after joining Lister City in 2011, his skills became more and more exquisite, helping the team to win the Premier League, the EFL Cup and the Community Shield Championship, and he made 479 appearances for the team in 11 years.

In 2018, Kasper Schmeichel, an eyewitness to Vichai's helicopter accident, witnessed the tragedy an hour after the match ended when many of the players had left the King Power Stadium, but he witnessed the helicopter take off as he was walking around the stadium with his family, who had come from Denmark to watch the match and waved goodbye to Vichai as he left.

Kasper Schmeichel posted a farewell video on Twitter, "After 11 magical seasons I have made the difficult decision to leave, Lister City is more than just a club to me, it's my home and all the memories I have of meeting lifelong friends."

The Nice side, who will be competing in the Europa League this season, have recently announced the signing of free agent Aylan Lance in a bid to bolster their squad. After releasing Kasper Schmeichel, Leicester City have stated that they will not be buying a new goalkeeper as a replacement, with manager Rodgers confirming that number two Danny Ward will be a starter.
