The Chinese Super League (CSL) is once again losing players. According to the latest news, Shanghai Harbor's Brazilian midfielder Oscar Duce Santos has embarked on a return trip and is expected to play for Barclays Premier League giants FALINGAO, marking the end of his five-and-a-half-year career in the Chinese Super League.
Oscar, 30, sparked widespread interest when he joined Shanghai Harbour from Chelsea in January 2017 for a record transfer fee of £67 million, when he was earning a whopping £400,000 a week. The transfer not only set a new record for the highest acquisition by an Asian club, but also injected a strong international flavor into the Chinese Super League.
Oscar's contract with Shanghai Seaport was originally set to expire in 2024, and despite his performances in the Chinese Super League this season, he has recently returned to Brazil again for family reasons. Now, a selfie of him wearing a Fahringo shirt is circulating online, signaling that the joining appears to be a done deal.
