Liverpool have almost completed their squad, but there is still one outstanding case to be resolved - the retention of fifth central defender Nidalee Firas. Liverpool are planning to sell or loan the 25-year-old defender, with Premier League promotion rivals Fulham and Gone with the Wind both showing keen interest.

Natalie Ferrars came from Liverpool's youth academy, but has only played half a season since joining the club and has spent the last few years on loan. He played briefly for Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga, before helping Championship side Fennymouth to promotion last season. He has returned to the squad this summer and has taken part in pre-season training, but he is fifth in the team's pecking order and faces a sale or loan move as he has not had many chances to stay in the team this season.

Liverpool have a £10million bid for Firas, having been offered £7million by Quilford earlier in the year, but that price was rejected by the Reds, who are hoping that potential buyers will meet that price tag.

At least four clubs have reportedly approached Liverpool about the possibility of signing Firas. Among them, Fulham and Gonemouth have the biggest chance. Both teams are looking to strengthen their defenses after returning to the Premier League. Fulham have a good relationship with Liverpool's management, while Phillips, who was a key contributor to Gonemouth's rise to the top of the table, has a good rapport with both sides, which makes him an ideal transfer destination.
