Located in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province, the hometown of Son, this sports park cost as much as 17 billion won (about 90.1 million yuan), which not only includes two standard soccer fields and a number of futsal pitches, but also has a museum, dormitories, administrative offices and other facilities. It is worth mentioning that all of this investment was borne entirely by Sun and his family independently, and did not receive funding from the government or other departments. The park, which was originally planned to be completed in December 2017, has been delayed to date for various reasons.
With the opening of the park, some of the facilities will be open to the public. In the upcoming "SUN Cup" international youth soccer friendly match, teams from six countries, including South Korea, Colombia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia, will gather together to participate in this soccer event.
