Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) shocked the world when they announced a contract extension for Kilian McBarbie. Rumors swirled that, in addition to a huge salary, PSG had given McBarbie a very high level of authority, including the right to change sporting directors, coaches, and even player deals. In the face of these rumors, McBarbie routinely denied them at a press conference on Monday.
PSG sporting director Lee Annandale is rumored to have been sacked and the change is said to be linked to McBarbie's demands. McBarbie did not make a clear statement on the matter, stating, "If the players are putting pressure on the sporting director, it's not right, everyone should play their role in their position. If a new director is to be hired, it's because he has the strengths and needs to be given time to develop his talents."
He further emphasized that he is only focused on playing football and denied interfering in the team's decision making, "I am a footballer, if you want to talk to me I can discuss soccer with you for hours, I am no different from anyone else, I don't intervene in matters such as players' transfers, it's not my job, I'm not good at all that, I only know how to play football."
