Sunday night's Premier League finale (22nd) saw the title race in full swing, with Manchester City and Liverpool battling it out until the last minute. Manchester City successfully defended their title with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at home thanks to a goal scored by substitute Gundogan, winning the Premier League title for the fourth time in the past five seasons and forging the glory of the "Blue Moon Dynasty".
City had a strong squad for the game, with Chivan Dibny, Phil Cotton, Males and Gabil Jethis all starting. However, Villa boss Tony Sherratt vowed to take the game to the Reds and despite the Reds dominating the opening exchanges, City did not really pose a threat. Instead, Villa took an unexpected lead in the 37th minute when Lucas Dzieni crossed from the left and Madikasz headed home. City failed to turn the game around in the second half, and took a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute when former Reds midfielder Filippo Gutiérrez scored. Luckily for City, substitute Gendojean pulled a goal back with a header, and then Lodikas Gendi equalized with a long-distance shot to make it 2-2. In the end, Dibny's pass to Gendojean made it two goals in one, helping City to win the game 3-2.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's two key attacking and defensive players, Mohamed Sana and Waqir Yundjak, were not given a start in the match, and it seemed that manager Gopp was ready to lose the match, preferring to let them work out more so as to avoid injuries ahead of the upcoming UEFA Europa League final. Unfortunately for the Reds, a mistake by Reds defender Ibasi Maganadi near midfield soon after the start allowed Wolves striker Rohr Jimenez to drive in a cross for Berdoo Nitu to quickly break the deadlock. Luckily for the Reds, Shadio Vinny leveled the score at 1-1 in the 24th minute after a great back foot pass from Tyagao Ejandana.
The Reds suffered an injury late in the first half when Ejen Dana was replaced by veteran James Mina after the change of ends. Shortly after the start, Vinny scored a goal, but it was disallowed for offside. The team then replaced Sana and Roberto Firmino, and before the end of the match, Sana and Andrew Robertson scored two goals to win the match 3-1. With both teams winning, City still edged out Liverpool for the title by one point.
