In Wednesday's World Qualifier, Manchester United striker Kayuni, representing Uruguay against Chile, was unfortunate to leave the field with a serious calf injury in the 29th minute, an injury that will cause him to miss United's Premier League home match against Leicester City in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 3), which will undoubtedly be a major blow to United's bid for a top-four position.
Even though Uruguay had already secured a place in the tournament before Kayuni's injury, the 35-year-old insisted on starting and was unfortunately injured as a result. The decision seemed risky.
It is understood that Kavanagh has suffered a calf muscle injury and it is expected that he will not be able to return against Leicester City. He has been plagued by injuries this season, missing a total of 19 matches in all competitions, playing just 600 minutes in the Premier League and picking up just two goals.
With age and wear and tear on his body, coupled with his contract expiring this summer, it seems unlikely that United will be able to keep hold of the striker.
