Recently, NAC fans have taken action, hanging banners in the home stadiums of the major European clubs that CFG has partnered with to denounce its attempted takeover of NAC.

Etihad Stadium, hung a "Keep our stadium away from you, the NAC doesn't belong to the City Football Group!" on a protest banner. They also took the same action, traveling to CFG's club home stadiums in France and Belgium to protest and issue a statement exposing the fact that the money behind City may be sourced from places with serious human rights issues.

The partnership between the two teams has grown stronger over the years, and in 2019, NAC was relegated from the Dutch Eredivisie to the Dutch Bundesliga, where it is now fiercely competing for a place in the Dutch Eredivisie.
