The 17th round of the Premier League resumed on Saturday night with Ipswich suffering a 0-4 defeat to Newcastle United at their own home ground. After the game, Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna went straight to the Sky Sports cameras to give an insight into the game.

McKenna was blunt: "In the second half, we didn't give up lightly, but the overall performance was clearly not as good as our opponents. We had the right mentality and we were relentless in seeking a breakthrough against a strong opponent. However, Newcastle were clearly the better team and they were far superior to us on the pitch."

He went on to elaborate, "If Newcastle could score early in the game, it would certainly add to our woes. But we firmly believe that if we don't give up, we have a chance to turn things around. Unfortunately, we didn't handle the key moments well, especially in adversity, and we should have kept a more solid defense in order to have a chance to keep fighting. However, we did not do that today."

McKenna also emphasized the need to learn from defeats: "We have to take every game seriously and learn from it, win or lose. If today's game makes us stronger, then we will learn from it positively. Although we have not faced so many challenges this season, this loss reminds us that we can only secure the fruits of victory if we give our all."
