Liverpool's star goalkeeper Alisson has dissected the changes to the team's goalkeeping line-up in detail in an official interview and has spoken highly of the performance of the new coaching team.
This summer, Liverpool's goalkeeping coaching team underwent a drastic change, with John Achterberg and Jack Robinson departing, Fabian Ott taking over as head of first team goalkeeping coaching, and Claudio Taffarel staying on. Confronted with the changes, Alisson confessed, "Change is always difficult, I've always had a close relationship with John and Jack, but even so, I've worked more and more with Taffarel. The positive atmosphere we have created together has affected all the goalkeepers and despite the adjustments the club has made, we still have to adapt."
Speaking about new coach Fabian Ott, Alisson was full of praise: "Ott is a dynamic and young coach who has brought new energy to the team. Instead of rushing into change, he talked to me in depth and understood my way of working. He has humbly integrated himself into the team and I have adapted well to his arrival. He was crucial for me and the other goalkeepers."
Alisson also revealed the team's goals for the new season: "We are doing well and want to continue to work hard and reach the goals set. These goals are ambitious, but we discussed and agreed on them with Ott and Tafarel at the beginning of the season. It is vital for us to maintain a high level of work so that we can be ready for the whole season."
Speaking about the demands of new manager Sloter, Alisson said, "For me personally, the demands have not changed much. But Slot has a unique style of play that emphasizes possession, which may require the keeper to make more short passes. He brings new options to the team and I think it's not just the difference, it's his contribution to the team and his work. He respects our past and wants to build a solid team that creates more chances. He has a strong belief and has passed it on to the team. At the moment, the players are performing to his expectations."
Alisson's interview reveals the good cooperation and positive attitude shown by the Liverpool goalkeeping team in the new season. They are gearing up for the challenge and are looking forward to making a mark under Sloter.
