Elliott revealed that the Liverpool team had an in-depth understanding of Southampton's fighting spirit and ethos before the match. "We foresaw that Southampton would put up a fight, so we prepared everything in advance." He said firmly, "Even though we had players in our squad who didn't get much of a chance to play early in the season, and even a couple of young rookies, we always fought side by side in the name of the team. In the end, we triumphed with a win, which I couldn't be happier about."
Speaking about Southampton's play, Elliott didn't mince his words. "I wasn't surprised by their performance, they have caused us a lot of problems in the Premier League as well." He said, "Southampton are a team full of confidence, they dare to attack from the back and take risks. Today, they did pose a lot of challenges for us, but we managed to defuse the crisis with great defense and teamwork."
Despite Liverpool conceding a goal in the game, Elliott gave credit to his team's defensive performance. "We had to make sure that the team was solid and did our best defensively." He said, "Even though we conceded a goal, I think our performance at the defensive end was outstanding. We managed to limit Southampton's attack and capitalized on the win."
