As the much-anticipated Manchester City derby draws closer, Manchester United head coach David Amorim has given his insights into the upcoming summit clash in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports.

Facing a strong City side, Amorim was blunt: "They are a top team capable of turning things around in an instant and we have to give it our all."

Talking about the upcoming derby, Amorim was confident: "Manchester City is undoubtedly a formidable opponent, they have been through thick and thin, with numerous honors and of course, losses. In contrast, we are trying to win the game in a simpler way. Although both sides are not at their best, the derby is very meaningful and our desire to win is burning like a fire."

Speaking about his previous experience of beating Manchester City 4-1, Amorim said, "That win really boosted our confidence, but the point of drawing on it was limited. It did give us a deeper understanding of the game and a sense of urgency. We still have a lot to do, not only in the game, we are working on our tactics and looking forward to the players showing more potential in the game."

Reflecting on his first month in charge at United, Amorim was full of emotion: "It was like a pre-season game and gave me the opportunity to get to know my players better. But we have to be clear that it's in real life and there will always be some surprises. What you think about a player can turn out to be a surprise, for better or worse. I already know that transforming a team is a difficult project and takes time. Don't just focus on me as a coach, the club needs time too. This is something important that everyone must understand. We have to focus on every detail, not just on the result, of course we want to win, but we still need to improve across the board."
