Wolves hosted Ipswich in the 16th round of the English Premier League, but lost 1-2. After the match, Wolves' midfielder Tommy Doyle gave an insightful analysis of the game and sent a heartfelt apology to the fans on the Premier League Made program.
Doyle said bluntly, "We should have done well, but the reality is that we do have some issues that need to be addressed. We have to look at those shortcomings and do everything we can to fix them. Despite our best efforts, the results have not been good. It's hard for me to face this reality, but I hope the fans tonight can witness our hard work. We know that effort alone is not enough to win, we must do more."
In the face of the team's loss, Doyle said: "This is undoubtedly another failure for us, and we are deeply remorseful for it. We have not met the expectations of our fans, and we would like to apologize to all of them for supporting us. We understand that our fans are always our strongest supporters and their support is vital to us. However, tonight, we let them down."
Speaking about the atmosphere in the dressing room, Doyle revealed, "At the moment, the atmosphere in the dressing room is incredibly heavy. We have to be honest with each other and dig deep to find out why we didn't win the three points. We need to have an honest conversation, find out what the problems are and work together to solve them. Our emotions are tied to the result and it's really painful not to win."
In closing, Doyle promised the fans, "We have to do better, and much better. I want the fans to know that we are doing everything we can to right the ship every day. We will learn from this loss and continue to make adjustments and improvements in an effort to show better form in future games. Please believe in us, fans, and we will return your support in kind."
