In the passionate 16th round of the English Premier League competition, Liverpool and Fulham started a fierce battle, and finally shook hands with a score of 2-2. After the match, Liverpool captain Van Dyke faced the camera of Sky Sports and talked about his views on the process of the game and the referee's judgment.
Van Dyke began by reflecting on the game itself, saying, "Coming from behind to tie and then from lead to draw really showed the resilience of our team. Although we were short-handed at one point in the game, it didn't break us and we continued to give our best and look for scoring opportunities. We had the chance to win more points, but chose to accept the draw and move on, which is the mindset of our team at the moment. It's not easy to stay calm, but that's what we have to do. Battling Fulham has always been challenging and we felt that not only last season but last week against Arsenal. We worked hard to turn a bad situation around and fought relentlessly and we were rewarded for our efforts."
Speaking about the referee's performance, Van Dyke said, "Me and the Fulham players felt a little bit that the referee was too nervous. I felt he had a breakdown in communication with Robertson, which is a real concern. However, we can't blame the referee entirely for the result of the game. Despite all the calls to protect the referee, I struggled to communicate effectively with him on the field. This shouldn't be a big problem because the points we lost were not due to the referee. It is what it is, we earned a valuable draw and now need to quickly adjust our form for next Wednesday's game."
