Manchester City visited Juventus in the 6th round of the Champions League and came away with a 0-2 defeat. Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Pep Guardiola talked about the details of the game and his thoughts on the team's future.
Commenting on the performance, Guardiola said: "Our performance was outstanding, despite the drop in goals and the sudden change of wind on the pitch, I am proud of the players' fighting spirit. They gave their all under pressure and showed indomitable spirit. Although we are in a difficult situation, I hope we can turn it around. I understand that it's not easy, especially in a top-level competition like the Champions League. However, our performance today was perfect and we didn't concede as many goals as we have in the past. We held on until the last second and stood where we should have stood."
Guardiola added: "Against Italian teams, their defenses tend to be tight and compact. However, today we became the dominant force in the game and showed a unique style. Despite the unsatisfactory ending, the performance on the field won recognition. We proved our strength and were only slightly unlucky."
Speaking about the two remaining Champions League matches, Guardiola revealed: "We have two more games coming up and we probably need one more win to take our chances of progressing or to keep our hopes alive. We have a challenging journey ahead of us, with a trip to Turin to face Juventus and a trip to Paris to face Paris Saint-Germain. These three away matches are certainly tough. However, we must face the reality and stay calm. I believe we can turn things around, and will not forget these difficult years, but will value the efforts of the past, and the challenges ahead, even more."
