Former Everton scout Brian King has given his insight on the renewal of Alli's contract in a recent interview with Goodison News. He noted that if Alli is keen to extend his contract with Everton, he will have to show consistent strength in the U21 ladder for at least six months.
Brian King said bluntly, "Ali's contract extension journey seems to be getting longer and longer. Only if he proves that he can return to the game and regain his former competitive form will we consider whether to extend his contract accordingly." He also emphasized that, "In order to assess whether Ali deserves a new contract, he will have to stick with the U21 ladder for six months. This process is crucial and will help us to see how his recovery progresses and how he performs competitively."
Despite the fact that Alli's contract is up in the summer, he has continued to train with Everton and has expressed a strong desire to extend his contract. Brian King recognized Ali's past achievements, "He was extremely good and I believe that with a return to fitness, he can still get back to the top." However, the reality is that Ali will have to prove himself through real-life games in the U21 ladder in order to clear the way for a contract extension.
