On March 21st, as night falls, the 36th Asian champions face Singapore away from home, with Australian referee Shaun Evans at the helm of the stadium, and Beijing Radio and Television's "Soccer 100" program providing an in-depth analysis of him.

Officially, Evans is refereeing China's match against Singapore, with George Laclindis and Owen Godric as side referees and Lebanese-born Maher Ali as the fourth official. It is worth noting that there were no video assistant referees in the Asian 36's world qualifier.

"Football 100 points" column pointed out that Evans had enforced the first round of the Asian Cup group stage match between Oman and Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia won in a controversial corner kick, Oman then two consecutive group matches failed to qualify for the group, the then Oman coach is the current national coach Ivankovic.

Evans embarked on his refereeing journey in 2008, initially as an assistant referee, promoted to referee in 2012, became a full-time referee in 2016, stepped up to international refereeing in 2017, won the title of Australia's Best Referee in 2019 and was involved in World Cup enforcement as a video assistant referee.

Evans enforced four Chinese Super League matches in China in 2013, and was invited to enforce the first leg of the FA Cup final between Shandong Taishan and Jiangsu Suntian in 2014.In 2013, he enforced the red-card expulsion of Zhao Xuzhi in the match between Beijing Guoan and Guangzhou Evergrande.

The program also highlighted that Evans' penalty scales are different from most referees in that he tends to be stubborn and stick to the initial call.In February 2022, the Australian Refereeing Council apologized for a penalty kick in the Melbourne 3-2 Central Coast match after Evans made a mistake in his decision on Melbourne's penalty kick. The national soccer team will need to be wary of Evans' whistle against Singapore.
