In a March 15 interview with Football Weekly, Zhejiang star Wang Yudong, who was honored with the 2023 China Golden Boy Award (U17), shared his journey on the road to soccer and his high hopes for the future.

Faced with the question of "whether to consider going abroad for further study", Wang Yudong was blunt: "Of course, I am eager to sharpen myself at a higher level of the league. I already have a blueprint for going abroad. I was impressed by the fast pace of global tournaments, especially the Big Five in Europe. I remember playing against Kofu Kazebayashi, a team from Japan's second tier league, whose speed and tempo far exceeded that of the Chinese Super League team, despite the limited strength of their opponents. That game was both exciting and a workout. Given the proximity of next year's National Games, I hope to represent Zhejiang, and if I have the opportunity, I plan to go abroad next year for further study, which I believe will help me take the leap."

Talking about the pressure of competition from foreign strikers in the Chinese Super League, Wang Yudong said firmly: "As a striker, I love the thrill of scoring goals. Every position in the Chinese Super League is highly competitive, and I am ready for the challenge. After joining the first team, my teammates have helped me quickly adapt to the rhythm of the league. In addition, I will strengthen my communication with foreign players and learn from them. I am confident to stand firm in the Chinese Super League."

Regarding the attention generated by his impressive performance in the Asian tournament, Wang Yudong commented: "Being recognized by the fans is something I enjoy, it means that my efforts are recognized. I don't think it's pressure. If I can't score goals, that's what makes me sad. I will turn this attention into motivation to improve myself and not let the fans down."

In the face of the current situation of Chinese soccer, Wang Yudong is full of confidence: "Chinese soccer is facing many challenges, but as a player, we should insist on moving forward and believe in ourselves and the future of Chinese soccer. The current environment requires our generation to work hard to create a better future, I will always insist on playing soccer, firmly believe that Chinese soccer can get out of the trough."
