The Chinese Football Association (CFA) yesterday unveiled a picture of the professional league's schedule for the 2024 season. Tonight's in-depth analysis reveals that the new season's ultimate double game week in the Chinese Super League will be scheduled for late June, when players will be able to avoid the trials of continuous play in the scorching heat.
Compared to the 2023 season, the 2024 season kicks off a full month and a half earlier, opening on March 1st and ending on November 2nd. It is worth mentioning that the first official match of the new season will still be between Shanghai Harbour and Shanghai Shenhua - the CFA Super Cup will kick off on February 25th at the Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium.
With reference to the calendar, the CFA follows the international match days set by FIFA to meticulously schedule the training of the Chinese men's football team, with the entire season of the Chinese Super League divided into six phases. Notably, the CSL will be played as usual during the U23 Asian Cup and the Paris Olympics. In addition, there will be four occasions in the new season when the CSL will play two matches in one week, with the final round of the double-header week scheduled for mid-to-late June, when teams will no longer face the challenge of playing consecutive matches in hot conditions.
