Jeju United officials have announced in a high profile announcement that Kim Hak-bum, former Chinese Super League (CSL) team manager of Henan Jianye and former coach of South Korea's U23 national team, will return to the coaching staff to take charge of the team.

Back in November 2010, Henan Jianye experienced a coaching change in the Chinese Super League, with Tang Yaodong stepping down and Kim Hak-bum being appointed to the position. Despite signing a three-year contract, Kim only managed three draws and five defeats in eight rounds of league matches, and had to bid farewell to his post "in advance".In 2018, he switched to South Korea's U23 national team, and led the team to win the gold medal at the Asian Games men's soccer tournament with excellent tactical arrangements and player management, and succeeded in recruiting Son Heung-miao, Hwang Yi-suk and Cho Hyun-woo. He recruited overage players such as Son Heung-miao, Hwang Yi-suk and Cho Hyun-woo.

It has been six years since Kim Hak Bum last coached the club. He earned the nickname "Hak Bum Sam" for his excellent team management and tactical wisdom. In an announcement, Jeju United officials praised Kim for injecting strong motivation into the team.

In an interview, Kim Hak-bum expressed his expectations for Jeju United, "I firmly believe that Jeju United is a strong team, but our goal is not just to be good, but to be feared by our opponents. I will do my best to develop the players' self-confidence so that Jeju United will show unrivaled power in the coming matches. I can't wait for the challenges of next season."
