In 2006, Shanghai Dongya embarked on the journey to the professional league, in 2007, they picked up the crown of the Chinese B League with a splash of bright gold color, and in 2012, they managed to break into the family of the Chinese Super League with fearless courage.
At the tail end of 2014, a new force, the Shanghai SIPG Group, took the club into its arms and gave it a new lease of life, renaming it Shanghai SIPG.
