Jeju United K-League club announced in a high-profile announcement that Kim Hak-bum, former Chinese Super League team manager of Henan Jianye and former South Korean U23 coach, has officially taken over the reins as the team's new head coach.
Back in November 2010, Henan Jianye of the Chinese Super League experienced a coaching change. The then head coach Tang Yaodong was sacked, and Kim Hak-bum was given a three-year contract. In 2018, Kim led the South Korean U23 team to the Asian Games men's soccer gold medal as the team's head coach, during which he boldly used three overage players, Son Heung-miao, Hwang Yi-suk and Cho Hyun-woo.
Six years later, Kim returned to coaching. With his excellent team management and tactical planning, he has earned the reputation of "Hak Bum Sam". In an announcement, Jeju United officials praised Kim for injecting strong motivation into the team.
Kim Hak-bum said in an interview, "Jeju United is a strong team, but we can't stop here. We have to work hard to create a strong team that will scare the opponents. I will do my best to inspire the confidence of the players and help Jeju United create good results in the coming matches." He also added with anticipation, "I can't wait for the challenges of next season."
