On November 16, the South Korean soccer team defeated Singapore by a lopsided score of 5-0 in the first round match of the 36-team World Qualifying Tournament. After the match, the topic naturally turned to the Chinese soccer team during an interview with Minja Kim in the press mixing area.
Facing a reporter's question about whether the Chinese team includes Beijing Guoan players, Kim Min Jae revealed, "I have spent more time training with my teammates, so I know them better, and I can introduce them to you in detail. But regarding the other players, my knowledge is really more limited."
Min-Ja Kim joined Beijing Guoan at the beginning of 2019, however, he opted to move away in the summer of 2021. Currently, four players from the Beijing Guoan squad have been selected for the national team roster - Zhang Yuning, Li Lei, Li Ke and Gao Tianyi. Of interest is the fact that the first three players used to play alongside Min-Ja Kim.
China will take on South Korea in the next round of the tournament, relying on the advantage of home ground, in a match that will take place in Shenzhen.
