On October 29, at 3:30 in the afternoon, the key battle in the 29th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) was staged at the SAIC Pudong Football Stadium, home of Shanghai Seaport, as promised, with Shandong Taishan as the challenger.

The first half was a turbulent one, with Zhang Linpeng assisting and Lu Wenjun scoring, however Wu Lei's goal failed to count due to a controversial penalty. Tensions then escalated as Lu Wenjun, Cai Huikang and Moises were sent off with red cards, and Harbour skipper Javier was also shown a red card for protesting against the penalty, which sent the game spiraling out of control.

In the second half, Cressan's goal was disallowed and Fernando's shot hit the post, followed by his red card for retaliation by McMurtry. Xie Wenneng seized the opportunity and scored a goal to equalize the score at 1:1.

In the end, Shanghai Seaport and Shandong Taishan shook hands to end a tumultuous match with a score of 1:1, and the draw helped them successfully lock up this season's Chinese Super League title.
