The intense scenes of Guangzhou City vs. Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Port vs. Zhejiang, and Wuhan Sanzhen vs. Meizhou Hakka triggered an in-depth interview with Wang Xuezhi, a veteran international referee, in order to analyze these controversial penalties.
Guangzhou City vs Beijing Guoan
A controversial call came at the start of the game when referee Zhen Wei failed to penalize Guilherme after he made physical contact with a Beijing Guoan player. Later, Prince Ming hooked Guilherme, but the referee still did not issue a card.
Wang Xuezhi pointed out that Guilherme was hooked down after the obvious foul, the referee should have decisively awarded a penalty kick. Despite a timely reminder from the VAR, the referee upheld the original decision and turned a blind eye to the obvious foul play.
Shanghai Port vs Zhejiang

According to Wang Xuezhi, Caldona was beaten for a serious foul, while he also had an intentional handball, and the referee was right to show a red card.
