In a recent interview, Chinese soccer star referee Ma Ning, in fluent English, revealed to AFC officials his insights into taking up a World Cup refereeing position.

"I must first thank FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation for giving me this rare opportunity to enforce the World Cup. I promise to do my best to show the world that I am at the top of my game. The World Cup, which has been in my heart since I was a child, has finally become a reality. This dream has inspired me since I became an international referee in 2011. Now, not only have I realized my dream, but I have the responsibility to fulfill it. At the same time, I have the honor to work side by side with the best referees in the world." Manning's words are filled with pride and respect.

Talking about the process of preparing for the World Cup, Manning revealed, "I have invested a lot of time and energy for this enforcement task. This year, AFC has provided us referees with a wealth of experience in enforcing the World Cup. This is not only an affirmation of the ability of Asian referees, but also FIFA's high recognition of AFC's referee training system. I have been able to refine my enforcement program by watching numerous matches and studying in depth the styles and player characteristics of different teams. Until the World Cup arrives, I will participate in the Chinese Super League every week to maintain my best physical and mental condition."

"The AFC has not only organized various referee training courses for us, but also equipped us with top fitness coaches to help us formulate a detailed preparation plan. The 2026 World Cup, which will see 48 teams competing, will see more referees joining the enforcement ranks. I firmly believe that there will be more Asian referees standing on the stage of the World Cup in the future." Manning is confident about the future.
