Reporter Lu Mee revealed that captain Wang Qiuming is the second-in-command in the Golden Gate Tigers' squad. Since being promoted to the first team by Coach Guimarães in 2013 at the age of 20, he has held his position and played alongside Bai Yuefeng. After a four-year departure from 2018 to 2021, Wang Qiuming has returned more mature.
Q: Soccer: How do you feel about the results of your training when you scored in the Zim Tigers' first win after halftime?
A: Our training is centered around the CK style of play, with targeted technical and tactical training at a high level of intensity.
Q: How do you help Beric get out of his goal drought when he breaks it and everyone feels pretty happy about it?
A: He does have power, but he had a poor performance in the last game and may need a goal to boost his confidence. He is a nice guy in private and invited us to have dinner together when he was in Guangzhou. We all hope he can score and break the deadlock. When he scores, we are all happy for him.
Q: The team has been adjusting from the beginning to the middle of the season, how is the overall shape and fit now?
A: The league is long, and as we get deeper into the league, we work better and better together. There will be a lot of new problems during the period, but we are always on the right path and it is easy to solve them.
Q: This is your first season back in Tianjin, what changes do you see when you come back again?
A: Mentally I feel like I'm more mature than I used to be because of the experience, being out there and playing more tournaments over the last couple of years and having more experience.
Q: I've heard stories before about the process and the opportunity to come back and mentor you on the High Line, but what really brought you back and what moved you the most?
A: First of all, Mr. Yu can talk to me about this, his heart is especially excited; the second is the feeling for Tianjin, the feeling of hometown, every child in Tianjin wants to play for the Tianjin team, which is a natural sense of belonging.
Q: Do you feel like you're at your most mature as a pro?
A: Technically and mentally, it's true that I'm more mature than before, and at the same time, I'm trying to get better every day.
Q: Did you ever think when you first came back that you would be a captain? How do you communicate with your teammates when you assume that role?
A: I really didn't think about it at that time, I'm a Tianjin player, and I was given this, and I hope I can take the responsibility and pressure.
Q: How does it feel to wear the Tianjin jersey again and also wear the captain's armband, in terms of mentality and responsibility?
A: There is a heavier burden on his shoulders then not wanting to live up to the expectations of the coaches, the team and the fans.
Q: Soccer: Do you remember when you first joined the first team? Tianjin's youth training is full of excellent local players, under what circumstances did you stand out at that time?
A: When we were selected for the first team, we had just finished the 2013 All-Ireland and then a couple of us went to the first team together. At the time, maybe in the country, we were relatively high at 93. A lot of the squad were very good. At the time, everyone had different options. Some chose to go abroad. I didn't have that opportunity, but I could be selected by the first team, which was very, very good for me.
Q: I remember you didn't have many opportunities in consecutive seasons. What was your mindset at the time?
A: When they first started on the first team, the big brothers on the team were very capable. Then they wanted to train hard every day, keep a good mindset, learn from the big brothers and wait for the opportunity. Maybe the previous choice was passive, but this time back to Tianjin is my active choice.
Q: Since you were a kid, you have been a regular in the national brand, being selected for the national youth, national youth, and helping the ladder team to win the championship twice. Everyone says you are a technical midfielder, where do your soccer "genes" come from?
A: Maybe when I was a kid, I met a very good coach in the ladder, the guidance of Wang Jun Wang. He brought a lot of different things to our team. I probably belong to the kind of players who are lucky. In fact, my talent is not particularly good. I work hard every day and give more than others.
Q: I have the impression that most of Tianjin's local players will stay in Tianjin to play for a long time. Do you plan to do that?
A: Yes, it's true, but there's a lot of uncertainty in professional soccer, and they are now very cherished and grateful to be able to wear the robes of Tianjin again this year.
Q: Playing for Rivera, what kind of presence did that experience have on your career?
A: In my opinion, it was probably a very important part of my career. It has been a very good experience for me, both in soccer and in other areas. During this time, I have made very good teammates, especially in the last two years, and we have been together like brothers. I have also improved and progressed in soccer.
Q: You're 29 years old this year, 28 years old, do you feel like you're a late bloomer when you're selected for the National Football League?
A: Being selected for the national team is the dream of every professional player. Late Cheng, not to mention, perhaps for himself, to be selected for the national team, is just a kind of reward, or rather, a kind of recognition.
Q: When you used to play for Tianjin, the team was on the verge of the relegation circle most of the time. This time when you came back, did you ever think of helping the Tianjin Tigers to establish a new image?
A: Tianjin has a deep soccer heritage and soccer culture. I hope to help the team, bring joy to the fans and add color to Tianjin.
Q: Soccer: Have living conditions changed since you returned to Tianjin? It should be easier to take care of your family.
A: Yes, you can give your family more companionship and care so that you can better commit to training and racing. Sometimes, at the end of a training session or a race, you can't wait to wash your face and go home.
Q: When you play elsewhere, you should also keep an eye on Tianjin's game and form. Are you impressed?
A: I almost follow Tianjin's matches. What impressed me most was probably when the Tianjin Tigers were relegated last year, which I thought was really not easy because we all knew it was hard to get relegated at that time.
Q: In August, Bai Yuefeng became the player with the most appearances in team history. Are you still young? Have you ever thought about setting the team's all-time record?
A: Brother White is a role model for the team. Everyone respects him very much, but I'm afraid it's hard to break his record. Of course, I hope I can stay as good as he is and help the team, even at this late stage of my career.
Q: Did you gain some experience and lessons from him?
A: During normal training, he would teach us experience. When he plays soccer, he often turns things around in difficult situations. His mental attributes can also infect me
Q: So far, Yu's guidance is the flag of Tianjin soccer. In recent years, there are not many Tianjin players. Have you ever thought of taking over this flag?
A: As a matter of fact, there are not many players in Tianjin team, which is the result of the continuous development of professional soccer. As a matter of fact, I think local and other local domestic players, including foreign players, will contribute to our team. We are a team. The fact that the flag is in everyone's hands depends on everyone in our club.
Q: The Zim Tigers have been playing differently this season, especially the local players, very well, how do you play the role of captain?
A: I think the strength of our team, may be a label, very united, cohesion is very strong, usually training games, there is good communication, between players, encounter difficulties, we will encourage each other, and then face together.
Q: After resuming home and away games in the second phase, the team had no real home games. Many of your favorite fans couldn't see you play soccer on the field. Are you looking forward to return to Tianjin to play home games? Tianjin fans always like you and support you, what would you like to say?
A: We are all looking forward to returning to our own home in the near future. Thanks to the fans, or thanks to their support and encouragement, even criticism, to us, all we can do is to train hard, play well, try to get good results, come back home and give the fans the best Jinmen Tiger.
