Recently, the European Football League imposed fines on eight clubs in Europe, of which four powerhouses in Italian soccer, Roma, Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan, were not spared.

The four top Italian clubs are collectively under pressure to pay a fine of 172 million euros, however, they would only have to share 14.5 million euros if they were to comply with UEFA Cup regulations.

The findings show that in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, Italian soccer's first division lost a total of up to 1.7 billion euros, with more than 70 percent of the losses contributed by the four giants Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

FC Roma has been operating in a worrying way in the two seasons mentioned above, becoming the worst club in Serie A and ranking second in Europe, with an accumulated loss of 389 million euros.

Inter Milan lost 348 million euros in the two Champions League seasons, Juventus lost 300 million euros, while AC Milan lost 291 million euros.

Napoli lost 78 million euros and Lazio 40 million euros.

Roma's current manager Jose Mourinho takes over the team in the summer of 2021, when the club is already €389 million in debt.

As a result, Mourinho seems to have jumped straight into the Roma abyss, while Serie A soccer as a whole seems more like a bottomless pit.
