In the late afternoon of May 31st, China Southern Airlines flight CZ6794, carrying 49 members of the Guangzhou City soccer team, landed smoothly at Meilan International Airport in Haikou. With the arrival of this flight, the 18 teams of the new Chinese Super League season, except for the newly promoted Dalian People's Team, the other 17 teams have arrived at their respective first stage of the competition. Despite the fact that Guangzhou City had suffered from salary arrears, the club's director revealed that "new developments are expected soon regarding this matter, and the team is in no way in danger of withdrawing from the competition."

Originally scheduled to depart on May 29, Guangzhou City's team was unable to board the flight on time due to a delay in the nucleic acid test report. After another test, the team re-departed at 4:30pm on May 29th and successfully arrived in Haikou at 5:32pm. This is undoubtedly a positive sign for the team, which has been plagued by salary issues, to successfully arrive at the tournament area on the eve of the opening of the Chinese Super League.

It was reported that after Chongqing Two Rivers Athletic Team announced their withdrawal from the tournament, Guangzhou City players also made a request to release part of their salary, otherwise they would refuse to enter the tournament. But in the end, all members of the team arrived in Haikou successfully. A total of 49 people from the team arrived, including 32 players and 17 coaches and other club staff. The team was led by club chairman Huang Shenghua and head coach Van Gast.
