The Chinese Super League (CSL) officially released the schedule for the first phase of the new season today. Introducing the divisions and schedules, Guo Bingyan emphasized that the integrity of the competition system will be ensured this year, with plans to complete 34 rounds of a total of 306 matches in a specific distribution of 10+8+8+8 in four phases.
The first stage is a tournament system, with the prospect of a return to a home-and-away system later on, but with greater difficulty. In the second and third phases, the first two seeded teams in the three divisions will not rotate divisions, while the remaining four teams will be required to do so. The final stage will see a reorganization of the schedule and divisions.
The preliminary schedule for the four stages of the tournament is June 3 to July 12, July 21 to August 21, August 30 to September 30 and October 9 to November 9. All matches will be fully completed before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
