The team quietly curtain. 24, the Chinese Super League powerhouse Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic announced the dissolution of the force since its inception in 1995, after nearly 30 years of spring and autumn, and finally drew a period in the long river of history.

Behind the dissolution, financial pressure is pressing like a mountain. According to domestic media reports, the Chongqing team chose to disband because its financial situation continued to deteriorate and it was unable to cope with the ongoing financial difficulties. Chongqing's financial crisis has become so severe that it cannot even pay its staff and players on time.

Chongqing is no stranger to Korean fans. Current head coach Zhang Waerong and Lee Jang-soo, who coached the team from 1998 to 2001, have been associated with the team. Jung Woo-young also played for the team.

At the moment, the Chinese Super League is in an unprecedented predicament. Once upon a time, every business was proud of soccer and gave generously to the league, but now, hit by the double whammy of the real estate bubble and the new Champions League epidemic, the companies that own soccer teams are faltering.

With parent companies investing less, more and more teams are not even able to pay their players properly, causing the overall quality of the Chinese league to plummet. Chinese Super League (CSL) teams have had a disappointing run in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL), with all participating teams failing to break through to the group stage.

The crisis reached its peak especially after the dissolution of last year's defending champion Jiangsu Suning.
