In the early morning of May 26, Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned from a reliable source that a change in the soccer world is quietly taking place as Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic Club officially announced its withdrawal from the Chinese Super League. After careful consideration by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Chinese Football League (CFL), it has been decided that Dalian People's Club will fill the vacancy and join the Chinese Super League family for the 2022 season. Other teams have completed detailed plans to move into the tournament as instructed by the organizers. However, instead of staying in their familiar hometown of Dalian, the Dalian People will have to move to the Haikou division to participate in the first phase of the Chinese Super League, while the results of the other divisions are maintained as they are.
After Chongqing Two Rivers Athletic Club announced its withdrawal from the Chinese Super League through official channels on May 24 and declared the suspension of its operation, the CFA and the CFL quickly held an emergency meeting to discuss the measures to be taken. After much deliberation, the organizers finally decided to add a team to the competition in order to maintain the league's 18-team size and ensure the fairness and impartiality of the game. According to the rules, Dalian People's Club, which was originally relegated to the Central League, was the first choice for the replacement, and was quickly qualified for the replacement. The organizers quickly contacted Dalian Ren FC and received their strong willingness to be replaced, so the replacement procedure was officially launched on May 25th.
The Beijing Youth Daily reporter confirmed on the 26th that Dalian People's replacement has become a certainty. While expressing their willingness to be replaced, the Dalian People's Club had expressed their wish to stay in the Dalian area as hosts. But the first stage of the grouping program has long been determined, and the preparation of the teams in the district has long been launched, the provisions of the teams must be stationed in the district before the 29th. Considering the current epidemic situation, each zone must also strictly implement the epidemic prevention regulations, including the quarantine measures for the personnel in the infected area, and the schedule of the other Chinese Super League teams cannot be changed. As a result, the Dalian Ren had to travel to the Haikou district, the same district where Liangjiang Athletic played the first phase of their tournament.
As the new Super League season is about to kick off in less than two weeks, the organizers have decided not to adjust the results of the first phase of the grouping in order to ensure the smooth running of the game plan.
After confirming the Dalian Ren's replacement, the organizers will continue to discuss other preparations before the start of the tournament today, including the arrangements for the first-round matchups in the Chinese Super League and the Chinese First Division, as well as matters such as which team will be replaced in the Chinese First Division.
The groupings for the first stage of the new Super League season are as follows:
Meijo Race:
Meizhou Hakka, Beijing Guoan, Shenzhen, Cangzhou Lions, Tianjin Jinmen Tigers, Chengdu Rongcheng
Dalian race:
Shanghai Shenhua, Shanghai Harbor, Guangzhou, Hebei, Wuhan Sanzhen, Wuhan Changjiang
