As the clock ticks down in Beijing on April 13, Guoan's newest addition, former South Korean international Kang Sang-woo, revealed in a recent interview that Guoan's head coach favored him at the start of the takeover.
Kang Sang-woo is about to complete his quarantine period in Xiamen, and then he will head to Beijing to meet with the Guoan team to sharpen his preparations for the upcoming Chinese Super League season. In the interview, Kang Sang-woo revealed: "Last week I had a video meeting with Xie Feng, the head coach of Guoan, and Xie Feng said straight away that when he took charge of Guoan, the first foreign aid he wanted to bring in was Kang Sang-woo."
Talking about his expectations for the Chinese Super League, Kang Sang-woo said firmly: "I am not here for pleasure and am aware of the responsibility I have as a foreigner. Just like in the K-League, I will show my strength in Beijing."
Regarding his personal health, Kang Sang-woo said, "I do have some concerns, but it is not yet clear when the Chinese Super League will start and it seems that I will have to wait for another month. In the meantime, I will try to recover."
