Leading Brazilian media outlet GZH has reportedly broken the news that the veteran fleet will once again be full of five foreign players as Brazilian star Ickxon is on the verge of agreeing a deal with Barclays B side Gremio.

According to the Brazilian Football Association, teams in the Brazilian league can only register a maximum of five players who are not Brazilian nationals. Despite being born in Brazil, Aixon was naturalized to represent the country in 2019. Given that he has renounced his Brazilian passport, the addition of Ickerson will add an extra foreigner slot to Gremio's roster.

In addition to Ickerson, Gremio's team now has four foreign players in Paraguay's Villasanti, Colombia's Campaz, Argentina's Cannemann and Benitez. It was revealed that Gremio's management has decided not to bring in any new non-Brazilian players.

Under the rules of the Brazilian league, a maximum of five non-Brazilian players can play in each match. Therefore, if Gremio introduces a sixth foreign player, it will face the problem of not being able to have all foreign players playing at the same time. Gremio has indicated that Elkeson, renamed "Eckerson", still has the desire to play for our team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup cycle.

In Gremio's in-team evaluations, Eckerson was deemed to have excellent forward awareness and good physical conditioning. Despite being out of action for a long time, the coaching staff plans to tailor a rehabilitation program for him after signing. Ixon is expected to arrive in Porto Alegre this week to undergo a medical with Gremio and complete the signing of his contract, which will run until the end of the year.
