Guangzhou soccer has just entered the new season, although the young players have become an army, but suffered a series of twists and turns. The team is in full preparation for the game, but faced with the demand of the fans to return the ticket package, coupled with the change of the home stadium of the cloud of suspicion, so that the situation is more and more complicated.
At the end of February, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) officially resumed the home-and-away system for the Chinese Super League, and clubs were required to report their home stadiums for the new season. Guangzhou soccer team responded positively and took University City Stadium as their preferred home ground. However, due to the renovation of the Galaxy Stadium to cope with international athletic events, the Guangzhou team had to look for another place.
For the past ten years, Guangzhou's home field has been the Galaxy Stadium. However, this year, the Guangzhou team had to set up their home ground at the University Town Stadium, which is more than ten kilometers away from the city. Nonetheless, the stadium is not free of charge and rent needs to be paid for every game, which has definitely added to the burden of the financially strapped Guangzhou team.
The Guangzhou team is in conflict with the University City Stadium over differences in rent and payment. Once no agreement can be reached, Guangzhou team may have to change their home ground. It is understood that Huadu Stadium may be the next candidate. Last year, Yuexiushan Stadium, Galaxy Stadium, Huadu Stadium and University City Stadium hosted the CSL Guangzhou matches. However, Huadu Stadium is nearly 40 kilometers away from the city center, making it the most remote option, and last year several matches were forced to be canceled due to drainage problems, which is one of the reasons why the Guangzhou team is reluctant to choose Huadu Stadium.
However, if an agreement cannot be reached with the University City Stadium, Guangzhou has no choice but to move its home field to the Huadu Stadium.
But for Guangzhou fans, it is still unknown whether they will be able to watch matches at the Huadu Stadium this year. Due to the epidemic, there is still uncertainty as to whether the home and away system can be resumed in the Chinese Super League this year.
