At the point of March 4, Sohu Sports disclosed the latest developments from the CFA and the CFF (Preparatory Committee). It is reported that the CFA has meticulously combed through the feedback from all clubs in the three tiers of the league on the resumption of the home-and-away system. Among them, 18 clubs in the Chinese Super League voted unanimously for the restoration of the home-and-away system, while the vast majority of clubs in the Chinese First Division also agreed with the proposal. However, some of the clubs in the second division have reservations about the restoration of home and away matches due to epidemic prevention and operational problems. From March 4, the CFA will work closely with the Super League and League A clubs to speed up the full restoration of the home-and-away system.
In late February, the CFA released a business letter regarding the resumption of home and away matches for the 2022 professional league season, and clubs and local associations have all submitted their feedback in summary after much deliberation. The 18 clubs in the Chinese Super League (CSL) have unanimously agreed to the resumption of home and away matches, and the vast majority of member associations where CSL clubs are based also support the change. This signals that the resumption of home and away matches for the 2022 season of the Chinese Super League is a foregone conclusion.
The vast majority of the 18 clubs in the Central League have also agreed to reinstate home and away matches and have the support of their member associations to help prepare for the tournament.
Based on the feedback from all parties, the CFA will join forces with the Chinese Super League and Chinese League One clubs and local associations to quickly start the preparatory work and strive to obtain written permission from local governments to organize the tournament as soon as possible. It is encouraging that some cities have already issued permits, while other regions are actively following up.
As for the epidemic prevention and operational difficulties reflected by some clubs in the China League B, CFA will combine the opinions of all parties, further study and coordination, and strive to determine the specific match system of the China League B as soon as possible.
