As the long season draws to a close, teams are starting to take a break, and clubs are gearing up for the new season. Recently, there is a remarkable news from Wuhan, where the club is actively working on signing former Harbour forward Hu Jinghang to strengthen the team's offensive firepower.
Born in 1997, Hu Jinghang, a native of Ezhou, Hubei, has been sharpening his skills at the Chongming Genbao soccer base since he was a young boy, and has grown up with his peers to become a member of the Shanghai Seaport Soccer Club. This forward killer was once known as "Wu Lei's successor", although in terms of technical style and "older brother" Wu Lei has some differences. Hu Jinghang, who can play both as a center forward and as a winger, was a stalwart of the U22 national Olympic team, and in 2017 he reached the peak of his career, not only winning the Men's U20 Division of the Tianjin National Games with the Shanghai All-Championship team, but also scoring five goals in the league on behalf of Henan Jianye, and winning the Best Newcomer Award of the Chinese Super League that season.
Hu Jinghang spent most of the next few seasons out on loan before joining Wuhan to play for them in 2020. In the second half of last season, Hu gradually got the chance to play, and appeared in the final of the AFC Cup between Harbor and Taishan. With more chances to play and the desire to "return to his roots", Hu Jinghang is unlikely to renew his contract with Seaport when it expires. The youngster who once vowed that "every child in Hubei dreams of playing for Wuhan" is now marching towards a new goal.
