Recently, Bakambu, who has played for China's top clubs, revealed in an interview with the well-known French soccer media footmercato that he chose to come to China to play soccer mainly because of the economic benefits, and initially planned to stay for only two or three years. Bakambu said: "Initially I planned to stay for 2-3 years at most, but I chose to stay after my contract expired. Time flies and it has been four years. During this period, I have gained a lot of happiness and valuable experience." He said he had not expected to stay in China for so long.
Meanwhile, Bakambu said, "I am eager to return to Europe. My family life has also changed, I became a father. Many things have changed and I need to get back to my family. It's natural to watch my children grow up healthy. I place great importance on relationships, which are very important to me. I am honored by my relationship with Barcelona, which has been a driving force for me. It proves that my efforts in China have paid off."
When asked if he has been contacted by European clubs, Bakambu said bluntly, "Yes, I have had many contacts. Now I have to make a decision and we will see. I want to make the right choice. I'm 30 years old, but I still want to play football and I know there are many good times waiting for me."
Bakambu terminated his contract with Beijing Guoan on November 30 last year and is currently in free agency. Since joining Beijing Guoan in 2018, he has made 91 appearances for the team, scoring 61 goals and dishing out 24 assists.
