Recently, Cannavaro, who has been severed from the Guangzhou soccer giants, revealed his feelings in an exclusive interview on Guangdong Sports Channel. Talking about the separation with Guangzhou, Cannavaro said his heart was cut to pieces and expressed his deep gratitude to the club for their help.

Talking about his personal status, Cannavaro revealed, "The decision to leave Guangzhou came so suddenly that I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to the fans. I am currently in London, where my two children are studying, and I expect to return to Italy in another twenty days or so."

Cannavaro expressed his deep affection for China, "I spent six or seven years in China, settling here with my family, and I am grateful to my friends, players and clubs in Guangzhou for helping my career. I will always remember every bit of my time in Guangzhou."

In China, Cannavaro has coached in Tianjin and Guangzhou. He recalled, "During the Tianjin period, despite the club's huge investment, the performance in the table was not satisfactory. At first, the stadium was sparsely attended, but as they were promoted to the Chinese Super League and faced strong teams, the stands were gradually filled to capacity. Since Guangzhou's first match, the stadium has always been packed on weekdays and weekends. In addition, away games such as Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen have been particularly impressive."

Cannavaro concluded, "It is very painful for me to say goodbye to the team at this stage. Since the return of Paulinho and Talisca, both the club and the fans think we have lost our competitiveness and are unable to hit the title. I am well aware of the fans' expectations of us. At present, the task of Guangzhou team is to renew and modernize. I am satisfied with the team's remodeling, players' attitudes, understanding of new tactics, etc. We have the chance to go all the way to the end to hit the title. But making this decision, mainly due to the epidemic, the decision is just too difficult."
