The Russian media broke the heavy news that Russian Premier League powerhouse Krasnodar has shown strong interest in powerful striker Bakambu of Chinese Super League giants Beijing Guoan.
The Democratic Republic of Congo-born player from France is said to be weighing up the direction of his career this summer and the Russian club is determined to capitalize on the opportunity.
Bakambu played for Villarreal in Spain between 2015 and 2018, a period that was considered the pinnacle of his career. Now 30 years old, his contract with Beijing Guoan will come to an end in December. During his time with the Chinese Super League side, Bakambu scored 55 goals and recorded 21 assists in 78 games. He is currently valued at €15 million on the transfer market website.
It is worth noting that FC Krasnodar's owner, Galitsky, is also a wealthy billionaire who is the founder and co-owner of Magnit, Russia's largest retailer. Despite the club's mediocre performance in the domestic league in the 2020-21 season, they still managed to advance to the Champions League and UEFA Cup stages.
