On June 1, the Guangzhou Municipal Government held a press conference on the prevention and control of the epidemic, revealing that there were 10 new confirmed cases in the 24-hour period on May 31, of which one was converted from an asymptomatic infected person to a confirmed case, and two remained asymptomatic infected persons. Up to now, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the city of Guangzhou has reached 34, with 8 asymptomatically infected, making the city one of the most severe regions in China.
At present, Guangzhou cases are mainly concentrated in the Liwan District in the western part of the city, keeping a long distance from the race hotels and race venues. The four major competition venues in Guangzhou - Tianhe Stadium in Tianhe District and Yuexiu Mountain Stadium in Yuexiu District - are located in the city center; the University Town Stadium is located in Panyu in the south and Huadu Stadium is located in Huadu in the north; and the competition hotel, Oriental Hotel, is also located in Yuexiu District.
