With the drums beating for the Top 40, the South Korean national team unveiled its 28-player preparation squad for the new season on the 24th. In this list, the three Chinese Super League (CSL) players Kim Min Jae, Kim Shin Wook and Son Jun Ho are listed, and their inclusion makes the preparation battle even more intense. This also means that they will most likely miss the 6th and 7th rounds of the Chinese Super League.

Led by Son, South Korea's new lineup of Kim Min-Ja (Beijing Guoan), Kim Shin-Wook (Shanghai Shenhua) and Son Jun-Ho (Shandong Taishan) have all been favored by head coach Paulo Bento. South Korea are in Group H of the 40-team tournament, and despite having played one game less, they are in second place in the group, and are expected to make a "comeback" for points in their remaining three matches. The schedule shows that South Korea will face Turkmenistan on June 5, Sri Lanka on the 9th and Lebanon on the 13th.

The sixth and seventh rounds of the Chinese Super League will be held on June 21 and 26, respectively, and due to the need to undergo medical isolation, the three Chinese Super League players will miss at least two rounds of their respective clubs' matches, even if they return to their home countries immediately after the matches.
