In a June 1 CCTV interview, Wei Shihao shared his journey on his way to study abroad, revealing that he was faced with the practical choice of playing for Levante and Granada.
Wei Shihao said: "I think my current skill level is not enough to get a foothold in the top five leagues, but at the age of 25, I think there may be a chance to go overseas after honing my skills in the Chinese Super League. At that time, the Chinese Super League's foreign aid is powerful, if I can contribute more than a dozen goals a year, maybe I can also get their favor.
Recalling his time at Evergrande, Wei Shihao mentioned that he had faced more than one opportunity to play abroad, Levante and Granada being two of them. At one point, he sold his car and packed his bags, just waiting to leave, but for various reasons he failed to make the trip to join Levante.
However, Wei Shihao also realizes that he may no longer have the strength to go out and play, and coupled with his advancing age, he is concerned that such a version of himself may no longer be favored by other clubs.
