In the 20th round of the Premier League, Arsenal played against Brighton in a 1-1 draw. After the match, Arsenal defense stalwart Carafiore gave a multi-dimensional review of the whole game in an interview with Sky Sports.
Calafiori began by expressing his personal opinion on the team's overall performance: "I think we had the opportunity to show a higher level of performance and dominate the game more effectively in this matchup. Especially in the first half, after we managed to break through the goal, we should have been able to take advantage of the situation and add another goal. Unfortunately, we did not achieve that."
He further dissected his team's mistakes in the game: "I don't understand why we made so many low-level mistakes, which are obviously not deserved. Perhaps we were too conservative in the game and gave our opponents too much space for them to find opportunities to counterattack. This is an area we need to reflect on and improve on urgently."
Despite failing to win, Calafiori emphasized the importance of the team's mentality, "Even though it wasn't a decisive defeat, we can't ignore the problems that the game revealed. We must move on and focus fully on the next fixture and try to get the win."
He made special mention of the upcoming semi-final of the English League Cup: "In three days' time, we will step on the field again to challenge Newcastle United. It's a crucial game and we have to do our best to qualify. This is not the time to envision the title, we need to focus on improving our performance."
